Services Offered
- Administration of Delinquent Tax process according to PA 206.
- Oversees the printing process for current year taxes. Distributes tax notices
to local townships for collection.
- Custodian of all tax rolls.
- Process Board of Review changes for prior tax years and issues tax refunds when
necessary.
- Collects current year summer taxes for Weldon Township.
- Issues dog licenses.
- Manages deposits and investments for all County money transmitted by all Departments,
Health Dept, Road Commission, Commission on Aging and The Maples.
- Maintains the County's General Ledger.
- Provides support to the Benzie County Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
- Grant administration.
Description
The County Treasurer is the custodian of all County funds. The Treasurer's Office
is responsible for the collection and recording the revenues of the county, maintaining
the general ledger, printing tax rolls and notices, collection of delinquent property
taxes, oversees the tax foreclosure process, custodian of all property tax rolls,
processing tax certifications, and managing the dog licensing program.
The County Treasurer is a member of the County Elections Commission, County Plat
Board, Benzie County Economic Development Corporation, Frankfort City-County Airport
Authority, Library Board, Building Authority and agent for the Veteran's Trust Fund.
